Abstract

Bacground: The Tazekka National Park (PNT), creates in 1950 on an area of 11 000 ha, is located in the most northerly part of the Middle Atlas, near the city of Taza (34 ° 06'N-04 ° 11 'W). The PNT offers a great floristic diversity, as well by its remarkable forest formations than by the large number of vascular plant species. Among these species, we find pine, which is the resinous the most widespread and the well known in the Mediterranean basin. Objectives: The aim of this work is to achieve a comparative study between the 3 varieties of pine (Pinus halepensis, Pinus pinaster and Pinus coulteri) characteristics of the PNT, morphologically, ecologically and biologically. Methods: For carry out this work, a field exit was carried out on April 5 and 6, 2018, in different stations of PNT (Ras al Ma, Dayat Chiker, Bab Boudir, Bab Azhar and Jbel Tazekka). In each station we were interested to the distribution of the three pine varieties as well as their climate-edaphic requirements. Results: Only two endemic pine varieties from the Taza region have been found and one introduced variety were found which are distributed according to the park stations: Endemic specie: Pinus halepensis, Philip Miller 1768 (station of Ras El Ma), Endemic specie: Pinus pinaster, Aiton 1789 (station of Bab Boudir) and Introduced specie: Pinus coulteri, (station of Bab Boudir). Depending on the climatic conditions, the altitude, the morphology and the general characteristics of each species, there is a very big difference in the distribution of its different varieties of pine. Conclusions: This comparative study between the 3 varieties of pine characteristic of PNT, showed a very clear difference between the three varieties, morphologically, ecologically and biologically.
