ABSTRACT

Background: Euphorbia heterophylla (PAKABE) is a medicinal herb and traditional healer in northern Madagascar, specifically to ANTALAHA in the SAVA region (Sambava- Andapa-Vohemar-Antalaha) by infusing it during the treatment of a disease Called "KALEMY" in Malagasy. Objective: The purpose of this work is to determine the mineral and trace elements in the root, stem and leaf of this medicinal plant. Method: In this case, the Total Reflection X-ray Fluorescence Analysis (TXRF) method is suitable for studying trace elements in liquid samples. The analysis carried out at the Laboratory of the National Institute of Nuclear Sciences and Techniques (Madagascar-INSTN) in the department fluorescence X. Result: The result of the analysis of this plant has highlighted 13 elements in the trace state: Zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), rubidium (Rb), strontium (Sr), copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), calcium Bromine (Br) and lead (Pb). Conclusion: All the elements quantified by sample remain within the framework of the elements of low content and does not exceed 119874,47 ppb. Potassium has a large amount, followed by calcium and iron in an intermediate proportion. The low concentration is attributed to manganese, titanium, chromium, nickel, copper, zinc, bromine, rubidium and lead. It was observed that in the leaf, a lot of potassium and also calcium compared to the root and stem.
Keywords: Euphorbia, heterophylla, X-ray fluorescence, elements, concentration, sample.
